Rene Reyes

Rene Reyes was born in the small South Texas town of San Diego. Having been raised by his mother, an artist and his grandmother, a singer, it was inevitable that the creative path would choose him. He started drawing and playing music at the age of four. 

At 19 he moved to Los Angeles where he co-founded the band The Green Car Motel with his uncle. Since the 90’s their band has successfully licensed music in film and television. They are currently recording new material for an upcoming release.  

In 2009, Rene was struck with an illness that almost ended it all. With the belief and love from his family and friends, he had the strength to rehabilitate himself back to health. It has been through painting and music that he has made a full recovery. 

 
Rene paints from a place of spontaneity rather than a preconceived subject matter, referring to this process as intuitive painting. The vibrant colors, movement and expression are drawn from his Hispanic heritage and culture. Whether through music or painting, Rene honors the freedom to discover, create and experience.
